Join The Team

The recruitment process for joining Bruin Finance Society’s leadership begins with submitting an application and a resume. Prior experience in finance or a background with BFS is not required, but we highly encourage candidates to connect with current board members and attend our events to learn more!

BFS Recruitment Pathway

At BFS, we provide a structured pathway for growth, ensuring that dedicated members have opportunities to develop their skills, contribute meaningfully, and take on leadership roles.

1. General Membership – Open to All

Anyone can become a General Member—no application required! Simply sign up for our blog to stay updated on BFS opportunities, events, and finance insights.

2. Intern Program (External Recruitment)

Students from all backgrounds can apply to join BFS as Interns through our external recruitment process. This is the first step to gaining hands-on experience, networking with professionals, and developing core skills in finance and business.

3. Associate Program (Internal Recruitment)

Interns who meet the 10-event requirement will be eligible to transition into Associate roles. This role involves taking on more responsibilities and contributing to BFS operations.

4. Board Associate Program (Departmental Specialisation)

Associates who demonstrate strong commitment and performance may advance to the Board Associate level. Board Associates work within specific BFS departments such as:

  • Outreach
  • Educational Events
  • Recruitment
  • Social Media
  • Digital Operations

5. Leadership Roles – Director & Executive Board

Board Associates who excel in their roles may be selected for Director or Executive Board positions. These leadership roles involve managing key projects, overseeing BFS divisions, and shaping the organisation’s vision.

Progression from General Membership to Executive Leadership.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at bruinfinancesociety@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

No! We welcome students from all backgrounds. Passion for finance and a willingness to learn are what matter most.

We value a combination of initiative, leadership, collaboration, and a strong interest in finance. We’re looking for people who are not only passionate but also proactive in learning and contributing to the club. Strong communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a team are also key factors.

Highlight any relevant experiences, even if they’re outside finance. Leadership roles, teamwork, problem-solving skills, and a demonstrated interest in learning about finance (through coursework, clubs, or independent study) can all strengthen your application.

If selected, you’ll go through an interview where we assess your problem-solving skills, ability to work in a team, and enthusiasm for BFS. Some questions may involve finance-related scenarios, but they’re more about logical thinking and approach rather than technical expertise.

Yes! While it’s not required, attending our events can help you understand BFS better, network with current members, and strengthen your application. It shows initiative and genuine interest. We also recommend reaching out via LinkedIn and social media. Our board members are always happy to chat!

Interns gain hands-on experience across various areas of finance, including investment banking, consulting, and other finance-related opportunities. They also assist with event planning, research, outreach, and marketing, working closely with board members. Additionally, interns have direct access to experienced upperclassmen, providing valuable mentorship and networking opportunities.

Being in a family means you have all of the same responsibilities as an intern plus access to special family events and the opportunity to bond with people who share similar interests.

Interns who meet specific goals—such as attending events, completing assigned tasks, and actively contributing to BFS initiatives—become eligible for promotion to the board as Associates. This allows them to take on more leadership responsibilities and play a larger role in BFS operations.

No! While many of our members study business, economics, or related fields, we welcome all majors. If you have an interest in finance and a drive to learn, you are encouraged to apply.
